Door Faults
*
- Hinges worn and leaking and should be considered for replacement.
- Door leaf has dropped on the hinge.
- Non fire rated hinges installed and should be replaced.
- Incorrect number of hinges fitted.
- Hinge fixing screws missing.
- The gap between the door and frame exceeds 4mm. Adjustment required.
- The gap under the door is beyond the recommended limit of a fire door. Install a drop seal or a threshold to reduce the gap.
- The door assembly is not as per the profile manufacturers details or the suppliers production drawings. Individual test evidence would be required for the door assembly that is currently in situ.
- The fire performance of the overall doorset system cannot be confirmed as evidence of the fire performance was not available i.e. no manufacturers details present.
- The door frame has not been suitably sealed to the structure, visible in the head above the architrave. Fire stopping measures are required.
- The door frame leg sections are not correct for the structural opening as they do not reach the floor. The floor section needs remedial work and fire stopping measures are required.
- The door frame build up is not as per the production drawings. A subframe has been assembled to which the frame is fixed meaning the doorset is not fixed directly to the structure. Evidence of this assembly method would need to be produced to comply with the fire test evidence.
- Damage/hole to door/frame.
- Door frame fixings missing in places.
- Intumescent/smoke seal missing in places.
- Intumescent/smoke seal build up is stopping the door from closing into place.
- The intumescent is loose in places and should be secured or replaced.
- Intumescent strip placed on top of intumescent strip is not an acceptable application on a fire door.
- We have presumed the intumescent/smoke seal have been retrospectively fitted and is not part of the original assembly. No certification would be in place for this assembly.
- Door leaves do not sit flush together in the closed position. Adjustment required.
- Door leaf not latching closed. Adjustment required.
- Door leaf damaged due to hitting the door stop at force.
- Glazing held in place with mastic. Not acceptable.
- Glazing bead loose in places.
- Vision panel beading loose and should be pinned.
- Unmarked Georgian wired glass installed and there is no evidence of an intumescent gasket installed.
- Steel plates added to meeting styles to close gap between leaves. Fire evidence would need to be required of this assembly.
- Fire signage missing or incorrect.
- Door closer would appear to be Mechanically Hold Open closer, which is not acceptable on a fire door. Electromagnetic hold open closers should be linked to the fire alarm.
- Door closer channel loose. This will eventually result in the door closer failing.
- Door closer disconnected.
- Door closer fitted incorrectly which inhibits the door from closing. Adjust or replace.
- Pull handle loose. Fixings should be tightened.
- Door stop required.
